Perfect in tacos or scooped over a bed of greens, or served with rice pilaf, this one-pan recipe is so easy to prepare!

These are great served as a main dish, along side a juicy steak for a surf and turf or even as an appetizer.

For a creamy garlic butter sauce that’s great over pasta, just add a little heavy whipping cream to the butter sauce mixture.

Or add a little heat by tossing in some red pepper flakes to the sauce. Easy peasy!

How To Cook Garlic Butter Shrimp

Cooking on the stovetop is the quickest and easiest way to enjoy this recipe! Be sure to prepare all of your ingredients before you start cooking as this recipe comes together FAST!

I spend less than 10 minutes zesting/juicing the lemon, measuring the ingredients and it only takes about 5 minutes to cook!

  1. Season shrimp (per recipe below) and measure out ingredients (butter etc).
  2. Heat oil in a skillet and cook shrimp for 1 minute.
  3. Flip over, add garlic butter mixture and cook 3-4 minutes more or until shrimp are cooked through.

Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Garlic butter shrimp can be baked in the oven at 350°F for 20 minutes or grilled over a medium flame on skewers or in a slotted pan.

Garlic Butter Shrimp

Shrimp is tossed in a garlic butter sauce and cooked until juicy and tender!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • lemon wedges for serving

Instructions 

  • Toss shrimp with lemon zest and salt & pepper to taste.
  • In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add shrimp and cook 1 minute.
  • Flip over, add butter and cook 2-3 minutes more or just until cooked through.
  • Remove pan from heat and sprinkle with parsley.
  • Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Be sure to prepare all of your ingredients before you start cooking as this recipe comes together fast!
Do not overcook shrimp.
Option: add some heavy cream with the butter to create a creamy sauce.
If adding veggies to make this a complete meal, ensure your veggies are pre-cooked, roasted or steamed.

  1. what is the preparation for the garlic is it minced, sliced, chopped or whole. I assume the parsley is chopped

  2. I intend to make this for two and serve over pasta. Would I be correct to cut the amount of shrimp in half (to say3/4 of a pound) and make the original amount of sauce or do I need to make additional sauce to coat the pasta?
